The software automatically Maps the buttons, but some may need altered which is really easy to do. After that you just need the model number to whatever device needs programmed into it and enter the number into the program. Besides that it is really easy to program all you need to do is download the software off of Logitech's website install it and then plug in the remote to your PC. The thing I like most about it is that it works with my HTPC and I think that this brand of universal remote is about the only one that does. If they need to turn on their surround sound, they have the DEVICE button which can control the surround sound, but they do not like to have it on all the time and most of the time us it just for listening to the radio anyways.
